adidas and Stella McCartney have been best buds since they first started collaborating all the way back in 2005. Over the past 18 years, the British fashion designer has continuously pushed the envelope where women’s sportswear is concerned, and for Spring/Summer 2023, this is certainly no different.
Unveiled in a new campaign, the aptly-named “ICONS” collection blends sports and style by flawlessly fusing performance-wear with leisurewear. The result is a four-piece mélange that comes in timeless shades of black, white, and gray, and places an emphasis on natural and recycled materials. This means, not only will you look good, you’ll feel good too.
Kicking off the eco-conscious capsule is the Truepace High Support Bra which has been designed for everything from a spot of light yoga to a high-impact HIIT class. Crafted from 79 percent recycled polyester, it’s decorated with Stella’s Seaspray print inspired by crashing waves. The Truepace Long-Sleeve Top is also made from the same environment-loving materials, and it’s equipped with AEROREADY technology for industry-leading moisture management.
In terms of outerwear options, “ICONS” features the Long Sleeve Puffa Jacket which has been created from one hundred percent recycled polyester. This piece boasts a pair of long zip-off sleeves and an adjustable waist to fit different body types. It’s also equipped with plenty of pockets throughout, so you can store all of your essentials, and then some.
Of course, you can’t talk about this collection without bringing up the star of the show – the Sportswear Run Shoe. An all-new gender-neutral silhouette, it has been crafted from a selection of natural and renewable materials, along with a Primeknit sockliner for added support and comfort. With a range like this, as well as the Sportswear Tracksuit Viscose from September, there’s no wonder why McCartney was awarded a CBE last year for her services to fashion and sustainability.
“We’re very excited to unveil the ICONS collection as we continue to push the boundaries of style, sustainability, and performance,” said Stella McCartney in a press release. “Through functional yet stylish materials and statement colors, we wanted to inject modernity into our most iconic designs. Our goal was to support and invigorate our amazing community of athletes and equip them with all they need for their athletic pursuits, and we hope this collection inspires them to push their boundaries in ultimate comfort and style.”
The adidas by Stella McCartney Spring/Summer 2023 “ICONS” collection is available right now from adidas.com. It’s very exciting to see the sneaker game getting more and more eco-friendly by the minute. Just last month, Billie Eilish and Nike joined forces for an Air Force 1 Low made from scrap materials.
