As the name suggests, which is Stella McCartney’s brand policy, the new collection was developed with environmental activism in mind. Aligned with a new generation of consumers, it presents a mindful activewear wardrobe for those dedicated to a healthy body, mind and planet.
“When designing the looks, versatility and comfort were at the forefront,” explains Stella McCartney on her brand’s website. It was important for the pieces to be functional; we wanted them to work both in the gym or on the street, supporting the varied movements of the next generation.”
Created from post-industrial and post-consumer waste, such as plastic bottles, this collection maintains its high-performance benefits but with low impact on the planeincorporating innovative eco fabrics through comfortable and wearable pieces. This strong performance wear features bold prints and casual fits on more sophisticated styles crafted from responsible or recycled materials, such as organic cotton and recycled polyester.
The collection gives a boost of energy to both activewear and footwear, and focuses on a dozen of must-have pieces, from socks, drinking bottles and hats, to workout gear, different styles of gym bags and a long puffer jacket. Above all else, it’s rooted in comfort, support and style, no matter if you’re at the gym or on the street.
In light of the collection’s theme, the lookbook was shot on activists Gwyneth, Ash and Izzy. Tapped in from Colours of Art School, a creative collective pioneered by artists of color addressing industry disparities, elevating creative voices and taking up space. It was photographed by Hanna Moon, with James Beattie as DOP.
