The longtime partnership between adidas and designer Stella McCartney continues to expertly blend fashion, sport, and sustainability with a new drop for the Fall/Winter 2021 season. Called EARTH EXPLORER, the latest collaborative collection features multifunctional pieces ready for nature’s cold conditions and crafted from recycled materials.

The two brands describe the collection as a blend of “tactical silhouettes with technical innovations.” Standout pieces from the new season include a Sleeping Bag Puffer Jacket made with adidas Primegreen using 100% recycled polyester and WIND.RDY, a technology that resists wind and repels rain and moisture. Also made with Primegreen using fully recycled polyester is a grey Woven Jumpsuit with a zip fastening system in the front and an elasticated drawstring at the waist for an adjustable fit.

A sleek All in-One Shiny Bodysuit made from 100% recycled form-fitting fabric (specific material not disclosed) also features adidas’ sweat-wicking AEROREADY technology for dryness and comfort. AEROREADY is also used for orange TruePace Running Tights, which is made with Primeblue, a high-performance recycled material made in part with Parley Ocean Plastic, using a blend of 79% recycled polyester and 21% Elastane. An orange TruePace Training Bra completes the active look also utilizing AEROREADY technology and made from a 64% recycled polyester and 36% elastane blend. Rounding out the collection is the Winter COLD.RDY Boots designed to keep warmth locked in with an insulated sock and developed using Primeblue.

The new collection from adidas by Stella McCartney is not simply just pieces for winter adventures; similar to previous seasons, it serves as a platform to highlight and celebrate other voices. EARTH EXPLORER is a “versatile range of multifunctional, sustainable pieces supporting next-generation change-makers as they reconnect with nature and the outdoors.”

Featured in this season’s lookbook is artist and activist Ella Emhoff alongside R&B artist Audrey Chu as well as activists Alima Lee and Yanece Cotto. “It’s really important that coming out of this we as a society start to really hone in on sustainable practices that help protect the environment. This is an issue that is really easy to not confront and almost give up, but I truly think that that alone should be the reason we fight even harder,” said Emhoff who is also recognized as the stepdaughter of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris.

The campaign’s change-makers were shot by Zora Sicher and Irie Jean outside on boulders, by water, and in trees in order to highlight what the brand describes as “the importance of nature for wellbeing and escapism.”

“When creating this campaign, we really wanted to be able to support next-gen explorers on their adventures within nature through a multi-functional collection,” said McCartney.
