As a contributing factor to our wellbeing, being in nature and experiencing what the outdoors has to offer is about as high up on the list as it gets. Even during the pandemic, through pretty stringent stay-at-home orders, we were all still encouraged to go outside for walks. To take a minute and a breath – for our health and mind.

Seeing the impact these moments in nature can have on people and recognizing it as core to their own philosophy, adidas TERREX has joined forces with and wander – a cult favorite and cutting-edge outdoor label from Japan – to create a collection which balances these moments with the mostly urban realities of modern living.

“Inspiration for the collection came from a short film produced in the 1970’s, which revolves around the theme of the relationship between humans and nature,” explains and wander co-founder Mihoko Mori when discussing the inspiration. “The collection’s concept and feeling evolved from there.”

Having occupied a similar headspace since both brands first launched in 2011 – a way of thinking which goes some way to explaining the two brands’ creative synergy. Within the breath of that shared landscape, adidas TERREX has worked to kit people out and push them gently toward making the most of nature, whilst and wander continues to mix high-fashion design with the essential, technical elements required for functional adventure gear.

As a collaborative effort, this collection is a coming together of both brands’ essential elements. A testament to their rapport and their individuality.

“Since day one, we’ve been designing functional, forward-thinking outdoor product that helps people get out into the elements,” explains Birgit Freundorfer, Senior Design Director at adidas TERREX. “It’s a vision shared by Keita Ikeuchi and Mihoko Mori at and wander, who continue to establish themselves as one of the leading outdoor labels in the world. Functionality is always at the brand’s core but their creative vision to deliver reimagined garments for an easy hike is why we wanted to collaborate with them.”

As for the collection, the collaborative range offers an eye-catching visual update to the lightweight TERREX Free Hiker 2 – featuring grip on multiple surfaces and a responsive BOOST midsole that provides solid energy return. The shoe also features a breathable upper with a sock style fit that moves with every step, and is partially made with Parley Ocean Plastic

“It has been refreshing to work with a brand that does things so differently but with an equal amount of care,” says Keita Ikeuchi, co-founder of and wander “We share the same amount of passion for nature and the outdoors as adidas TERREX so the collaboration has felt like an extension of what we do at and wander.”

With the shoes taken care of, we move on to the TERREX XPLORIC and wander COLD.RDY Down Jacket, which offers an attention-grabbing twist to an essential functional piece. It’s made with COLD.RDY, an insulating material that ensures the warmth is kept inside, and partly made with recycled materials.

The jacket also  features the signature TERREX x and wander reflective prints, both on the body and the hood, making it easier to stand out and be seen in the wild. The piece has multiple pockets and customizable details to ensure the proper fit for when you’re out exploring. (As always, however, while any use of recycled materials is a positive in our eyes, the use of down feathers in this piece is a missed opportunity for further progress.)

The collection graphics, with their stand-out reflective elements, have also been implemented into other elements of the range; and, as well as the Down Jacket, they can also be seen in the TERREX Fleece Jacket, the loose-fit unisex TERREX Graphics Hoody, and TERREX Pants.

You can also get some TERREX x and wander breathable Merino Wool Hiking Socks, that include COLD.RDY technology, the quilted Winterezed Bucket Hat, and the lightweight AERO.RDY Hiking Backpack which was designed with all the outdoor essentials in mind.

Depending on where you happen to live in the world, you can purchase the new adidas TERREX x and wander collection on the adidas website
