Every day someone trades in using public transport for riding their bike for the sake of producing lower emissions. Seeing this growing trend, MAIUM’s new drop is all about the future commuter. The SS22 collection is a season-less composition of pieces ready for an active lifestyle. It features convertible, casual outerwear with performance elements, perfect for a city commute.

The creation of the brand came about due to daily rainy commutes endured by the founders. It was founded by two friends that grew up biking in the rain and noticed a lack of stylish and functional outerwear for their biking needs. With this, they set out to create MAIUM to design products to help protect the wearer from the weather by way of innovation in design, function and materials.

The brand exclusively uses responsibly- sourced fabric that not only is extremely durable and waterproof — by using a non-toxic bionic finish — but is also made from recycled plastic bottles. The materials are also free from any harmful substances and are made in fair, safe and healthy working conditions.

The Poncho is a handy waterproof layer that easily folds into its own built-in pouch, making for easy transport. It can transform into a bigger size through the opening of the side zippers that offer more movement and coverage when riding a bike or scooter. 77 PET bottles are used to make this piece and it’s offered in seven different colors.

The Mac is another waterproof piece. A versatile raincoat that has movement in mind, it features the brand’s signature two-way zips for a modern update on the classic 1824 Macintosh. It can be transformed into a poncho for riding your bike or scooter and it’s made with organic cotton and 88 recycled plastic bottles. This piece is available in four different colors.

Lastly, this drop includes the MAIUM classic Trench. This waterproof staple was re-designed for the modern-day and the future commuter. With a new oversized silhouette to cater to the wearer’s movements, it still stays true to its original shape, first introduced in 1901. Just like the brand’s other styles, it can also be transformed into a poncho for a more comfortable riding experience. This style counts on 111 recycled plastic bottles and organic cotton as materials and can be bought in two different colors.

The second drop of the SS22 collection is now available on MAIUM’s website.
