Palace and adidas Originals Wander Into Nature for Their SS22 Collaboration

May 19, 2022

Palace and adidas Originals, two brands that often find their home amongst the harsh and noisy concrete of urban life, have found inspiration in the quiet of the outdoors for their Spring/Summer 2022 collaboration, titled “Nature.”

The capsule contains a considered array of outdoor-inspired apparel and accessories. The hero pieces are the lightweight jacket and pants combo, decorated with large pockets, netting and pull cords. They feature a collaborative branding graphic which uses the adidas Trefoil, Palace name and the word “Nature” written in cursive, complemented by the Three Stripes along the sleeves and legs.

A matching pair of shorts and pocketed fleece in dark green feature the same branding and colorful accents. There are also three T-shirts, a cap with a long meshed neck covering and a backpack. All are finished in a color scheme of “Wild Pine” and “Stone,” with bright accents of cyan, orange and yellow.

Material wise, the brands haven’t released much info yet. Recycled fleece material has been used to make the fleece top, but we’d hope that a collection themed around nature would utilize other widely available Earth-friendly materials and processes.

In a short film made by Will Robson-Scott, skater Heitor Da Silva spends the day with the fisherman and writer Chris Yates at Yates’s home in the English countryside. Yates is an idling, tea-drinking man who has a deeply personal relationship with nature and the outdoors. “My connections are out there,” he says while dismissing the connection people make on social media. The unlikely pairing of Da Silva and Yates, and the contrast of the streetwear garments in the green, English landscape, makes for a sweet and surreal film that hopefully inspires others to find connections in the natural worlds that surround them.

The Palace x adidas Original Nature collection will drop May 20 in the US, UK and Europe on the Palace web store, adidas Confirmed app and physical stores. A Japan release will follow on May 21 via WeChat, in store and online.
