Keeping on course with its sustainability commitment and aim to lower its amount of waste, Saucony has released a new collection, developed in collaboration with Cycora.
A part of Ambercycle, Inc., Cycora is a high-quality material produced from textiles headed to landfills. Created to curb waste within the fashion sector it also reflects a larger push within the industry to reimagine the future of fashion and present solutions to reduce the use of the Earth’s resources. But this isn’t the first time Cycora is tapped for a collaboration, it has already been used for a collection by LA streetwear designer Justin Mensinger, and in H&M’s Circular Design Story collection last year.
“We are excited to team up with Saucony, a brand that is eager to lead the running industry in helping to bring a vision for circularity to life,” said Ambercycle CEO Shay Sethi. “Not just a material, Cycora is a movement, a vision for the future and a community. With this collaboration, we are inviting the global running community to help build a circularity ecosystem, where performance apparel is removed from the cycle of waste and reused over and over.”
As for the collection, it is composed of men’s and women’s fitted tanks, crop tops, short sleeves and singlets, featuring a range of different fits. The pieces are made using a breathable, sweat-wicking jersey composed of up to 23% of Cycora. The sizing of the collection ranges from an S-3XL in men’s sizes and XXS-2XL in women’s sizes.
Dubbed the “Original Running Brand”, Saucony is at the helm of the international performance running market, It combines innovation, style and culture into one, creating cutting-edge technical and lifestyle footwear and apparel. Created in 1898, it continues to develop its technologies, such as PWRRUN™ PB, PWRRUN+™, and SPEEDROLL™, which have all won awards for their level of innovation.
“Our journey toward a more sustainable future continues with this collection,” said Brian Moore, senior vice president of global product for Saucony. “Advancing our commitment to protect our planet, we continue to seek out responsibly sourced materials and environmentally sustainable business practices to minimize the adverse effects on our community, environment and natural resources.
“To support the runner, we look for high-performing materials with characteristics that include wicking, drying and breathability. Our collaboration with Cycora allows us to simultaneously reduce the materials going into landfills while producing a premium collection of products that are ready to perform. We are so pleased to partner with Cycora and know that runners will appreciate helping to offset the end-of-life clothing cycle with this collection.”
