‘Tis the season of collaborations. Between Lizzie Armanto and Vans, and Billie Eilish collaborating with Nike, brands and artists working together seems to be Spring’s flavor.
The latest pair to join the docket are PANGAIA and South Korean-born (but Virginia-based) artist Vandy The Pink. The duo have released a capsule collection that brings together Vandy’s signature graphics and PANGAIA’s material philosophy.
This isn’t the first time Vandy has worked on a collaboration with a brand. His colorful and playful iterations of clothing and sneakers lead him to internet fame. He has previously collaborated with Monster on a custom collection of Reebok Beatniks for the launch of a new drink. He uses his work as a vehicle to comment on current consumer culture, recognizing conceptual clothing and sharing positive messages.
By working with Vandy The Pink, PANGAIA continues to take steps in its promise to collaborate with like-minded communities, artists and change makers. This launch is the perfect example since Vandy’s personal point of view on his work’s inspirations, along with his passion for environmental causes go perfectly hand in hand with PANGAIA’s brand values.
The PANGAIA x Vandy The Pink collection features 3 styles, the 365 hoodie and track pants in Sand and Chestnut Brown, and a T-shirt in Off-white, all made in organic cotton. Vandy’s designs for the capsule focus on bringing awareness to nature, and how vital it is to protect trees, having chosen to go with three trees as the main graphic for the lighter colorway and a flower pot for the darker one. The pieces in this collection also have a collection specific textblock, which replaces PANGAIA’s customary one.
“When PANGAIA and Nordstrom approached us to work on this project, we were excited from the beginning to get this project going,” says Vandy. “We are inspired by PANGAIA’s messaging and sustainable technology, so it was meaningful and special for us to incorporate our brand values and art into this special collection to celebrate Earth Day. Seeing a brand dedicate itself to improving the environment has allowed us to learn and grow throughout this experience and we hope the collaboration influences others too!”
The collection is available for purchase online only on PANGAIA.com and Nordstrom.com, and in-store at 13 New Concept @ Nordstrom locations spanning the US and Canada. Prices range from $75 USD to $190 USD. Both Nordstrom and PANGAIA will be donating to Direct Relief, a nonprofit helping in Ukraine and surrounding countries with medical aid.
