System_A, the cutting-edge sub-label of outdoor gear leader Arc’teryx, has introduced its inaugural foray into footwear with the Norvan SL 3 slip-on shoe, seamlessly fusing outdoor technology with an urban-ready aesthetic.

Drawing inspiration from the signature Norvan silhouette, Arc’teryx System_A’s Norvan SL 3 slip-on shoe offers an ultralight and streamlined trail running experience. As the sixth release from the brand, it solidifies the commitment to pioneering design and high-performance solutions. With its pull-on design, the shoe effortlessly prioritizes convenience without compromising functionality.

Engineered to thrive in challenging terrains, the Norvan SL 3 integrates high-performance trail running systems, catering to those seeking extended high-output performance. Its standout feature is a lightweight construction and packability, making agility and speed the prime focus.

The shoe’s foundation is a rich EVA/Polyolefin blend midsole that ensures optimal shock absorption and propulsion. Adding a layer of protection, the forefoot features a 0.7mm TPU film, a recyclable material that delivers toughness and a prolonged service life.

The abrasion-resistant matryx® Micro upper, a fusion of PU-coated recycled polyester fibers woven around a nylon core, bolsters durability, fit and breathability—all while maintaining an exceptionally lightweight profile.

While the choice of oil-based synthetic materials introduces a measure of environmental consideration, this choice lies in the shoe’s unwavering performance in the face of demanding conditions and terrains. A move toward circularity should be further considered by having Arc’teryx contemplate a recycling initiative to enhance the sustainability of its footwear line, as well as incorporating recycled nylon.

In tandem with the upper’s performance, the knit collar functions as a protective barrier against debris, seamlessly melding with the tongue to engender a snug and comfortable sock-like fit. The integrated carabiner attachment points underscore the shoe’s versatility, amplifying portability and convenience.

The shoe’s outsole seamlessly upholds Arc’teryx’s dedication to offering grip and durability. Through the fusion of Vibram® MegaGrip™ rubber compound and Vibram® LiteBase, the Norvan SL 3 guarantees stability and traction across various terrains.

The System_A Norvan SL 3 is available in an array of sizes and retails for $200 USD, exclusively available through Arc’teryx’s website.
