Following up on their “Upcycled Striped Shirts” collaboration, Converse and Beyond Retro have reunited to give the classic, always popular Chuck 70 silhouette a velvety makeover.

Crafted with upcycled velvet, the unique color-blocking of both high and low versions vary from shoe to shoe, making each pair unique and giving you a style that’s all your own. These premium shoes also feature a cushioned “OrthoLite” insole for all-day comfort and extra coziness.

Aside from its sustainably sourced upper, the sneakers feature an all-white outsole made with rubber scraps from manufacturing processes. A signature white toe cap, white laces and a white “CONVERSE ALL STAR” emblem are tossed onto the high-top pair. Elsewhere, the left tongue label on both iterations sees a “Converse Renew” branded moniker.

The “Velvet Chuck 70” marks Beyond Retro’s sixth collaboration with the “All Star” icon as part of the latter’s “Renew” project, through which Converse re-imagines the possibilities of “new.” As per the British vintage retailer, “With conscious consumerism growing, our ongoing work with Converse highlights just how much possibility there is in secondhand clothing.”

Beyond Retro continues, “We hope to keep creating more circular opportunities to make a positive impact on our planet. We’re proud to be able to help brands create accessible and environmentally sound alternatives to fast fashion, providing sustainable-led collections to the high street customer at such a large scale.”
