UPDATE 4.19.23: The Ethics lgTWO is released today, April 19th, available directly from the Ethics website and retailing at a price point of $120 USD.
Having been spotted recently on the feet of NBA star Kyrie Irving, official news of the Ethics lgTWO is now making its way into the world – with the shoe itself set to follow soon. First seen sporting the latest, lilac-hued model from Langston Galloway’s animal-free brand during a training session back in March, the surprise first-look for the sneaker piqued interest in the brand and even speculation about a deal in progress.
Leaving murmurs about sponsorship aside – Irving’s only comment on the matter so far being that “he wanted to show [Langston Galloway] some love” – the shoe itself remains an interesting prospect.
As the name suggests, Ethics The Brand is – well – a brand very much focused on ethics. In more philosophical terms, that means ethics in terms of Galloway’s own work ethic as an NBA player and in terms of the values has held close since childhood. In more tangible terms, that means ethics in the material sense and ethics in production.
Eking out details of the lgTWO little by little over the last week or so via the brand’s official Instagram, we now have a much clearer sense of what the new silhouette has in store – as well as information on its official release date – although, as yet, no confirmation on price point. (The lgONE currently retails at $120 USD, which makes for a sensible starting point if you’re in the mood for guessing.)
The brand’s second sneaker official release, selection of colorways aside, the lgTWO follows much of the material format of its predecessor, having been built on the same dual-foam tooling. That being said, there are clear difference: most obviously, this is the first low top offering from Ethics – forgoing the traditional element of security provided by the longer walls of a high top construction and which is often favored by basketball players.
The lgTWO isn’t without its own defence systems, though, boasting animal-free leather overlays placed at the toe-end as well as at the ankle, and the benefits of a stitch-reinforced CORDURA® nylon upper – deployed for hardwearing support, despite the minimalist shape.
Set to release April 19th, the Ethics lgTWO will be available on the brand’s official web store – where you can currently shop the lgONE, apparel and accessories. Until then, if you’re interested in some other ethically-crafted kicks, check out the latest release from the ongoing Stüssy x Converse collaboration.
