There’s no one in the industry doing it quite like Flamingos Life. Hailing from Spain, the brand has taken initiative in being a fully plant-based company that works to create quality footwear. With a production circuit that is fully developed in-house, Flamingos Life has demonstrated that plant-based sneakers not only do good by the earth, but encourage local economic opportunities. Small towns like Elche, Spain where the brand is based are involved from the ground up. The FW22 collection builds upon Flamingo Life’s legacy of 100% veganism since 2015 – delivering a number of classic trainers.

For Flamingos Life, veganism is a vessel for change. Whether it’s reducing greenhouse gases or minimizing water usage within its production, the brand firmly believes this is a promising long-term solution for addressing climate change. With FW22, Flamingos Life stays consistent with classic silhouettes opting for a range of subtle color combinations. Favorites include the Retro 90s White Forest with its forest green accents, or the Old 80s All White making for a polished look. FL’s philosophy hopes to bring attention to the fashion industry’s disruptive practices, and how small brands like itself can be thought leaders in the space. Moreover, its deep commitment to transparency informs its audiences every step of the way.

What really makes Flamingos Life stand out is its materials and processes, providing a blueprint for the future of sneakers. Over the years it has developed a fully biodegradable option that reflects its cause for saving the planet. Flamingos’ Life products include a base of three materials – corn waste, bamboo, and organic cotton. Historically, organic cotton has respected biodiversity and natural processes for a pesticide-free alternative. Moreover, corn waste material is another quality product that has been tested to be more durable than leather. Lastly, the brand embraces bamboo as a main ingredient in its production. The renewable material requires no chemicals or pesticides, and can also be used to absorb greenhouse gases.

It’s with this base that Flamingos Life has proudly been able to share that it has killed zero in making our shoes, planted 219, 808 trees, and collected 18,944 kilograms of plastic. As the brand comments on its website, “We are here to give a voice to those who do not have one.” This ethos guides the company, as each collection is tied with a social project. In the past it has worked to bring water to remote areas of Uganda with NGO “Agua ONG”, or hone in on local family-owned craftsmanship in Spain. It’s clear with Flamingos Life the product is not only defined by its production, but the positive intention of the team behind it.
