Out of the design studios of Nike comes a collision of two icons. Like a better looking younger brother of Frakenstein, the Air Max Flyknit Racer brings together the textile upper of Flyknit with the cushioning of Air Max.
This new addition to Nike’s lifestyle range is inspired by 2012’s FK Racer. This was a sneaker that received a lot of love in its day, and it’s great to see Nike pay homage to it with this innovative redesign. The light and airy tech of Flyknit now meets the super comfy cushioning of the ionic Air Max Pre-Day bubble.
The Air Max Flyknit Racer has a sporty edge thanks to its seamless and fairly minimal design, and its sculpted collar. It features soft synthetic suede detailing, which puts it more into the lifestyle camp. Material wise, it’s been manufactured utilizing recycled materials from post-consumer and/or post-manufactured waste. It continues Nike’s Move to Zero journey towards zero waste and zero carbon.
The hybrid sneaker comes in a choice of three colorways. One being the Oreo 2.0 that appeared on the FK Racer back in 2015. There’s also a multicolored version (which we’ve seen on other Flyknit models) and a kind of reverse Oreo colorway, with white/gray being the prominent tone.
The Nike Air Max Flyknit Racer is currently rolling out in phases, based on the region and colorway. For example, the multicolored iteration is currently available on Nike.com in the US.
