The sneakers that break the mold are coming. We reported on the Nike ISPA Link earlier this year and now we have the release date.
The shoe is unique in its design. The original challenge was to create a shoe that could be easily recycled. Usually, it’s tricky and expensive to break down and recycle the components of footwear due to the glue and other bonding elements used in their construction. The solution is a modular design. The two interlocking modules connected without glue can be pulled apart. So when you’re done with them, just drop off the components at a Nike store where they’ll be recycled or donated.
The resulting kicks are a mid-height boot with an airy recycled knit upper and bulbous shapes which connect the two parts. It’s a futuristic, space age look that doesn’t forgo comfort thanks to its ultra-soft foam midsole.
The ISPA Link comes in two colorways: Black and Medium Olive or Barley and Desert Moss.
If you’re in the US, both colors are available June 22 at 10 a.m. ET on Nike.com.
